D:(gasp, then scream)well stay away from my ponies so you don't costumize them, but I might let you costumize my Tinka-Tinka-To, cause she has been through alot and her magnet won't work anymore(a reason I don't wanna talk about)

Ahh cool. Never heard of it, might have to look into it. Does it harden like plastic or something?

Ah, its awesome. Its like sculpey on steroids, that air dries. It hardens even harder than plastic- My harpy figure was dropped SEVERAL times (she had balancing issues) and never chipped, cracked, or broke in any ways. Thats a bonus for me, because I'm a klutz!

Before I started on my first one, I did a lot of research. The awesome thing about ponies are is they are generally inexpensive and usually not too hard to find- they are kind of hard to find in stores at the moment because they are switching to a different style, but you can still sometimes find the cute ones. :D My recommendation for your first one is a "fakie" or a not real My Little Pony, if you can find them. Before starting any custom, make sure its not a collector's item! Not all of them are, but you want to make sure.

Before starting any, I recommend reading up on some awesome tutorials and such found here: [link]
There are also some more here on DA.

Then, totally get involved with this forum here: [link] Its known as "the arena" and is amazing. Seriously, I check it about every day. Lots of knowledge, and people are soo nice! Just be sure once you join to post in the introductions forums first so everyone can meetcha!

The "trading post" is also a good site, I don't use it as much as the arena but I think its all personal preference. [link]

Other links:
[link] Is where I buy my hair and has tutorials. rehairing is probably one of the hardest parts of a custom- but don't be scared! It just takes time and practice. :D I hated it at first but now I'm a "pro"

[link] Look up Generation 3 ponies (the ones most customizers currently use)

[link] or, Generation 1 ponies

[link] Basics for using the kind of sculpting I use- I honestly recommend starting with sculpey or some kind of polymer clay first, apoxy takes awhile to get used to

I buy my ponies from the arena, ebay, ecrater, and amazon.

And visit your local craft store to look at things you can use for customs!!

Ok, that was a lot of typing XD. Anyways, making customs for people is the best. I've made one for my best friend, my niece, and my mom. They are great gifts, because its like the ultimate personalized gift! XD

Any more questions, just ask.

Thank you for all the info!!! Omg thanks. And yeah i figured what I would do is go to A "savers" and see if they have any MLP there for cheap. And of course make sure they are not collectors. I use to have some but my mom gave them to my nieces. I always ahve some like 3 dallor toy horses that we got for my son i can steal one of those to test apoxy on and stuff. Once again thats for all the facts

I will keep in Up to date with you. You don't know how many different people i've asked and they are just like. Yeah i just use clay that dries by its self... and then they don't tell me anything else.

lol well there are some people who use "air dry clay" which you can find at most craft stores. IMO that stuff sucks. I used that when I was a little kid, and its pretty fragile and never gets where you want it to be.

Apoxy you have to order online, at least I've never seen it at any craft stores, which I'm not sure why since it is awesome. The site I linked you to is the manufacturer's site, and they are really great. I order from them all the time.

XD get ready for some cosplay... (and I'm totally skipping the part where I super-glued my hand to the pony and took of paint... although, looking back it would have made a super-hilarious comic...)

As my boyfriend often says: "Whats up with all these be-headed ponies?!" lol. I have this tendency to leave them lying around like that. Must be painful.. lol
